President's Newsletter

During the first six weeks of 2005, the RRHS Alumni Association Board of Directors have been working to revitalize the Association after a four month hiatus. To this end, the Association's day-to-day operations have been successfully transferred to the new management team, requests are being answered, annual dues and donations are finally being processed again, etc.

(Note: Any checks that were made out to the Association since September 2004 have only been recently deposited.)

The first major effort in 2005, facilitates the gathering of RRHS Alumni Contact Information, payment of Membership Annual Dues, & giving Donations through secure, on-line Credit Card transactions. Hopefully, this additional on-line service will prove beneficial to the Association, Alumni, Reunion Committees, and Scholarship programs. Our focus is to improve alumni support and scholarship programs while maintaining the outstanding traditions set in place by Ed, Pepling, Class of '64, former President and founder of the Association. The following captures the major themes of the Association for the coming year:

Current & new issues:

  • Reunion Page on the 5's. Keep abreast of your Reunion activities for each 5th, 10th, ...40th, 45th year class reunion. There will be a dedicated space and/or separate page if needed, for each 5th year class to disseminate it's class reunion information.
  • Monthly Class List Updates posted on the website, currently the Class Lists have been updated with all the Alumni information Quarterly Web News Updates on the current happenings at Ramapo High School
  • Spring & Fall Newsletters: The Fall 2004 Newsletter, which had been lost in the management turnover shuffle, has resurrected, updated and will be mailed on or before the 15th of March.
  • Join or Renew your Membership to the Association on-line, by Credit Card
  • Donate to the Scholarship & Operations Fund on-line, by Credit Card
  • Starting in March 2005, our Membership Drive will be in full swing.
  • Join, Renew and/or Donate Now!

Future goals for 2005:

  • Attain Not-for-Profit IRS Status such that all donations will be tax deductible.
  • Growing/enhancing the Scholarship Program to include larger awards, multi-year awards and an increased number of awards based upon several criteria. Currently the Association awards two deserving seniors, male & female, a $1,000.00 scholarship each.
  • Create an interactive Web-Site for 'Active' Members of the Association.
  • Allocate an 'rrhsalumni.org' email address for 'Active' Members of the Association in the form john.doeXX@rrhsalumni.org, where XX would be your class year.

We hope that getting the Association back on track and incorporating these and other enhancements will enable the Association to better meet the needs of the Alumni, Reunion Committees and Scholarship programs.
