February 2004 ASSOCIATION OFFICERS President - Mr. Edward
J. Pepling, class of 1964
Dear Fellow Alumni,
Here in the northeast, I guess you could say we are
almost out of the woods with spring just 21 days away - hopefully we
won't get hit with any more snow like the Carolinas did yesterday. With
spring right around the corner, that means the school year is half over
and students will be waiting, in part for yearbooks to sign, proms to
attend, graduation - what are the cornerstones of alumni memories. I
will drive up there and see how the renovations are doing so I can give
you another update.
As you know, when you registered for this, your
alumni association, your privacy is sacred. You need only check the box
'Keep contact info confidential' and it is just that, confidential. Ed,
our president, will not breech that confidence. What am I leading to,
you ask? Well, both Ed and I, have on several occasions, been contacted
by a company who prints alumni directories. He and I have gone back and
forth on this issue and having been the Alumni Director at Ramapo
College at one time for seven years, and having done an alumni
directory, I am in favor of it since I used the one from RC often to
find old friends and acquaintances.
The issue of confidentiality is at the crux of the
debate in that we would have to send the publishing company a listing of
all RRHS/RHS alumni (If you agree we can send them your
information). The company would look for, and then send out letters
explaining what the directory would entail, gather information about all
of you, compile and publish the information. During that time, you would
have the opportunity to a) participate by completing their information
form, or not (wherein you would simply be listed as a graduate of your
graduating class) and b) be given the opportunity to purchase a
directory if you so desired.
The truce Ed and I came to was to let you
have a say in whether or not to do the directory. So, please respond to
me at
vicepresident@rrhsalumni.org
Don't forget to keep us updated and send in
information when you move, tidbits about what is going on in your lives
for the Spring edition of Ramapost - and even suggestions about
teachers and/or fellow alumni you might want to see a story about. Send
your information to webmaster.
Remember to be sure your membership dues are up to
date for 2004 so we can continue to offer graduating seniors (one male
and one female) scholarships once again this year. You are who make this
association work and we are grateful for that.
We can still use your help, too, if you wish to work
on the newsletter, become a part of the Board, contact either Ed or
myself.
Stay well and until next time, as always, I am
Dorothy Witowich Gillman
